For those of you who are participating in this year's Chicago Marathon, you should have already checked your participant accounts by now. Yesterday, it's been announced that all participants have assigned corrals! As for what corral I've been assigned to, I am starting in Corral E!! I will be in the first wave of runners! This is a very exciting time for all the participants.
There are three waves of runners. There are five corrals in each of the first two waves, and four corrals in the last wave. There will be over 35,000 runners total participating in this event. Man, I can't even begin to tell you just how exciting this is!
How do these corrals work? Where you are assigned is based on your qualifying time (most of the first wave, of course), and your estimated finish, and your estimated finish is basically how long you think it will take you to finish the race. My corral has estimated times between 3:30:00 to 3:50:00. My goal is 3:45:00 or faster. Based on my half marathon performance this year, I'm on pace to get there.
To all my fellow Chicago Marathon participants, I look forward to seeing all of you at the start line on October 10, 2021! Let's get it!!
